Dirac Harmony™ is an advanced digital room correction technology that optimizes the entire audible frequency range. The Dirac Harmony™ algorithm balances different listening positions and optimizes filters to reach a target frequency response that can be set by the user. Dirac Harmony™ filters are designed in a simple-to-use  graphical user interface that runs on an ordinary PC. The software includes measurements, sound system analysis, filter optimization, and system validation.

Dirac Harmony™ uses ordinary biquad filters (second-order IIR filters) that are available on any DSP designed for audio processing. It can handle the most limited form of filters, peak/notch filters with adjustable Q, center frequency and gain (3-parameter filters), as well as take advantage of the additional flexibility of DSPs that allow direct access to all five biquad filter parameters independently. Performance scales with the number of filters and the freedom to design 5-parameter filters.

Dirac Harmony™ employs minimum-phase filters, which means that it does not perform true impulse response optimization. This is the price paid for a limited computational budget in the form of a relatively small number of biquad filters. Other room correction systems on the market that require FIR filters also employ minimum-phase adjustments only. However, where these systems needs high-order FIR filters, Dirac Harmony reaches the same or better performance using the less expensive biquads. Dirac Harmony™ can be used as a cost-effective room correction system, or for factory calibration of loudspeaker systems to eliminate performance variations and tune the system to better sound quality. In automotive OEM sound, our customers use Dirac Harmony to calibrate their sound systems using a very effective work process tailored for their needs, thereby saving time and money as well as improving the sound quality.
