Studio / Professional - Room Correction

Recording studios demand an accurate sound reproduction without any compromises. However, regardless of the quality of your monitors and equipment, the room in which you are mixing will negatively affect the sound - bass build up from the room will cause your final mix to be weak in the bass and the early reflections will shrink the stereo field, and cause cancellation at certain frequencies.

Due to the room environment, each frequency component, or tone, will experience a change in level and timing. Being a mixed phase system, Dirac Live® not only corrects the level of each tone as a minimum phase system would. Instead, it corrects for the timing, duration, and level of each tone, thus allowing the engineer to mix to the music and not to the room.

Benefits of Dirac Live® for studio:

  • Better translation of the mix into other speaker systems
  • Increased musical clarity and voice intelligibility
  • A deeper and tighter bass
  • A restored sound stage
  • Reduced listening fatigue

Technical highlights of Dirac Live® for studio:

  • True impulse response optimization
  • Magnitude response correction
  • Mixed phase technology
  • Robust spatial algorithms

In terms of implementation the filters can be run on a DSP (either integrated directly into the speaker or in a separate box), from a PC or Mac computer using the proprietary Dirac Audio Processor, or as a studio-plug-in in the formats of VST, RTAS or AU.
